Chelsea Nyantakyi and Joanna Gunab are the founders of SOFA. At a young age, they individually had the desire and vision to want to birth a non-profit for the marginalised or those treated unfairly on the basis of their ethnicity, disability, gender etc.
Growing up, they can both recall being treated differently or made to feel less than because of their disability. Joanna mentions of one occasion where her mum almost got into an altercation on her behalf because a woman called her a derogatory name.
Although the odds were stacked against them in most situations, they defied them to become who they are today.
When Chelsea and Joanna aren't knee deep in SOFA projects, you'll find them in their day jobs as a pharmacist and a doctor respectively.
Defying all odds is one of the numerous mantras SOFA lives by.
